Memory Quilts

I really love making quilts!  They take a long time to do, but each one is so personal, there's a real sense of achievement when you finish one too.  If you haven't heard of memory quilts, they are quilts made from recycled fabrics and clothing that hold special memories for the owner. Mostly these days they're made from those first baby clothes you can't bear to part with, but anything is possible (quite fancy an old band t-shirt quilt myself...)

Below are some of the quilts I have made to date.  I'm working on a sort of memory quilt with a twist at the moment actually - more of that later!

My hands-down-favourite quilt is the one I made for my daughter.  Not strictly speaking a memory quilt, but I made it from pretty scraps of fabric I had collected, using a traditional English quilting pattern in my Liberty sewing book. The memories were more in the making with this one - it's all handstitched, I started it when I fell pregnant, and finished it just before her second birthday!  A real family heirloom... but needless to say I won't be embarking on a project like that again any time soon!

I made my first memory quilt for Oliver and his Mammy, Gemma, from Oliver's first baby clothes.  It was a learning curve, having not attempted anything like it before, but I really enjoyed picking out all the little features to create something super special. Turned out ok, don't you think?

My second memory blanket was for one of Oliver's friends, her Mummy saw Oliver's quilt and couldn't resist ordering one too... It's a bit bigger, roughly cot bed size (Oliver's was 100cm square).  I like all the girly frilly bits.

Guideline Price List - Updated January 2017

All my makes are bespoke so I quote for each project seperately, based on the materials and level of detail involved.  As a guide, though, here is an outline price list to give an idea of what my pricing structure is.  Contact me with your requirements for a more detailed quote.

Name Tags: £4 each or 3 for £10 (plus £2 p+p)

Bunting

Plain-backed triangles: 75p per flag
Double-sided triangles: £1 per flag
Single-sided pendant with letter: £1.50 per flag
Double-sided pendant with letter: £2.50 per flag

Postage depends on the amount so will be quoted by request.

Bean Chairs

Prices start at:

£60 - small (40x40x40cm)
£80 - large (50x50x50cm)
£100 - extra large (60x60x60cm)

Each chair and inner is handcrafted from scratch to your agreed design.   The inner is constructed in a number of sections so it holds its shape better than other designs.  Prices include your choice of fabric and a name appliqued on it if you wish.  Additional decoration on the chair then costs more, depending upon the level of detail required.

Postage for chairs is £15, by Royal Mail. Pick up from me in Bridgend is free.

Teepees
Teepees are available in two different sizes.
Teepee for 6ft poles: £150
Teepee for 5ft poles:£125

The price doesn't include the poles, you'll need to source these yourself, but I can tell you where to get them.  This isn't me being awkward, just that if I order them I have to get them delivered, then send them on - it's much simpler for you to just order them and have them delivered direct!

As with the bean chairs all items will be made to order so can be customised as you wish. The main fabric on all the teepees I've made so far is unbleached calico, or I can do it in patterned/coloured fabric all over if you prefer. Likewise if you wanted to change the window layout, initial design or bunting decoration I can do that too.

Quilts

These are difficult to put a guideline price on, as all quilts are unique!  To give you an idea though, the memory quilts I have made have been £150 for 100cm square, and £200 for cot bed size.  The price reflects the amount of work involved in adapting baby clothes and picking out all the little details.  A simpler quilt, using standard fabrics, would be less expensive.

Name Tags

These have been my best seller recently - name tags for nursery bags and other things.  I did some for Christmas too.  They're  all hand embroidered, with lovely fabric backing and a ribbon tag.
